2018 International Freshmen Initial Education Series Held


In order to improve the good works of international freshmen and in order to help them to easily and quickly adapt to the life atWenzhou University, 2018 International Freshmen Initial Education Series has been held by the College ofInternational Education (Department of Oversesa Students Education&Service) for five days since October 12th.

At the teacher-student meeting, the school teachers welcomed the international students in their own way, and introduced the content of their work and teaching focus. After that, Professor Ye Miao, Dean of the International Education School, gave the “Dean's First Lesson” for international freshmen about the three perspectives of how to look at wenzhou, which were admiring Wenzhou Unversity, the guidance they needed to initiate themselves in understanding the atmosphere of the campus ,including Wenzhou city ,Zhejiang province and China as well.She hoped that students should integrate into campus life as soon as possible, and really learn what they need to satisfy the expectations of parents and schools.

In addition, international students also listened to many wonderful lectures: Chen Yazhen, from the Municipal Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, introduced knowledge about disease prevention and treatment; Chen Haimin, a police officer from Chashan Police Station, explained the traffic and legal security through on-site cases; Ouyang Chao,a police officer from the Municipal Entry and ExitAdministration Bureauexplained processing procedures of visas and residence permit as well as legal notices in China; Wu Fengxian, a teacher from the school library, introduced the library and information retrieval methods; Fang Yao, a lawyer from Jiaruicheng Law Firm, took an international student case to introduce legal culture and judicial practice in our country and taught them to abide by Chinese laws. The teachers responsible for the management of international students also explained the scholarship evaluation methods, disciplinary regulations, apartment accommodation management regulations, and elective courses system for the international freshmen. The students all agreed that the beginning education gave them a deeper understanding of Wenzhou University and a better adaptation to the campus life here.

It is reported that International Education School (International Students Management Department) has always attached importance to the adaptation for international freshmen. Each year, it will hold a series of activities such as lectures, visits, interactive experiences and etc.. This year's initial education covers student affairs, educational affairs, entry and exit, legal system and other aspects, aiming to enable freshmen to fully grasp the school management regulations, campus environment, cultural atmosphere and Chinese laws so that they can gradually adapt to new life and prepare for professional study.
