In hope of creating a colorful second classroom activity for international students, and mobilizing the enthusiasm of international students to learn Chinese, tell Chinese stories, and spread Chinese culture, College of International Education held the 6th Chinese Language Skills Competition for International Student which went on from Dec. 7 to Dec. 9, 2022.
With the theme of "Vibrant Youth, Charming Chinese", 20 international students from Applied Economics, International Trade, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Business Chinese participated in the competition. The competition was divided into preliminary and final stages, with four parts for each stage: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The competition received positive responses from international students as soon as it was released. A lot international students signed up for the competition, creating a strong atmosphere of multicultural exchange for Chinese language teaching.
After the competition of the preliminary round, the 15 finalists entered the final round to fight for the best award. The final was held at 2:00 p.m. on December 9, and the competition kicked off with a beautiful song by Liu Chuntong, a graduate student of TCSOL. Mr. Fang Jianxiao, Deputy Secretary of CPC CIE Committee, attended and delivered a speech. Mr. Fang encouraged international students to learn Chinese actively and wished the contestants success in the competition. The judges of this competition consisted of three teachers from the College of International Education, namely, Deputy Secretary Fang Jianxiao, Ms. Zhang Minlu, and Mr. Cao Jianting.
After all competitive sessions, the teachers of the judges scored and ranked the contestants in terms of language, content, performance and effect of the program.
At the end of the competition, the host announced winners and the judges presented awards to the winners. Two first prizes, four second prizes, six third prizes and three popularity prizes were finally awarded in the competition.
