A Visit to Yongjia School Museum

On the afternoon of March 29th, CIE Master Teacher Workshop on China’s National Situation Education for International Students started its first class of this semester by visiting Yongjia School Museum. International students from 24 countries and regions visited the museum and learned the history of Yongjia School, including its main representatives and their thoughts and influences, etc. The international students were very excited and engaged, and said that they were very happy to have such an opportunity to get in touch with the profound Chinese traditional culture.

The “Yongjia School Museum” is divided into four exhibition areas: the prologue, the founding and development, the revitalization and the revival, and the study hall, which show the cultural essence, historical significance and contemporary value of the Yongjia School in an all-round way. It is an immersive experience that can be seen, heard, touched and felt, and decodes Wenzhou’s cultural genes, roots and heritage.

International students were very interested in the ideas of “righteousness and interests” and “Scholarship must be beneficial to state governance’, and hoped to have an opportunity to study these ideas more deeply in the future. It is reported that later this semester, international students will have more off-campus classes to learn more detailed knowledge of Wenzhou’s customs, traditional culture, beautiful countryside and social and economic development.

Some postgraduate students of grade 2022 of CIE, majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages also participated in this event.
