Recently, the two videos "Ou City Accent" and "Studying at WZU and the Flag” won the outstanding award of 2021 "Studying in Yangtze River Delta" Micro-video Competition by two of our international students.
The main story line of “Ou City Accent” is about a Portuguese international student Catarina Chen experiencing Ou Opera, a local traditional art in Wenzhou. Under the guidance of national class-A actress Xue Qing, Catarina Chen put on Ou opera makeup, wore special costumes to learn how to perform the Ou Opera "Double Golden Seal". She learned the movements and singing of the talented girl Zhang Meiying in the Opera. Catarina Chen said: “ I like Chinese traditional culture very much, especially ancient buildings, ancient streets, ancient poems, ancient songs and so on. To praise a thousand times the radiant Chinese history, or exalt ten thousand times of its magic is not as good as to experience its culture once by heart. Ou opera will conquer you in its own way. The artists’ hands, eyes, bodies, movements, steps deeply engage people with their charms.”
The micro video "Studying at WZU and the Flag" tells the story of Zhu Yilong, a foreign student from Tajikistan, who learned that Zeng Liansong, the designer of the Chinese flag, was an alumnus of WZU and became interested in his story. He made a specific visit to the Rui'an National Flag Education Museum. Here he appreciated the display exhibits, learned more about the story of the creation of the Chinese flag, and the connotation and meaning of the Chinese flag, which made him more proud of this alumnus senior. He said, "I am very lucky to study here and to be a witness to the development of WZU and Wenzhou, and I hope that I will one day be successful in my studies and do something like Mr. Zeng Liangsong."
It is reported that the "Studying in Yangtze River Delta" Micro-video Contest was organized by the Education Departments (Education Commission) of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui Provinces, and hosted by the Foreign Students Education Management Branch of Zhejiang Higher Education Society and other departments and universities. This contest was one of the series of foreign student activities in Yangtze River Delta of 2021. The award-winning micro videos of international students not only bring Wenzhou in the eyes of international students to the public, but also make international students more interested in video production. And we could expect more and better works to be presented.
