University Leaders Visited International Students on Minor Chinese New Year

December 23rd, 2022 Lunar calender was the traditional Chinese New Year. On this day, College of International Education(CIE) organized a new year activity in the dorm of international students. International students and leaders and teachers of CIE got together to celebrate the coming new year and sent blessings to each other by writing Chinese character “福(Fu)”, the Chinese word for blessings and happiness, and Spring Festival couplets. What’s more, Xie Shuhua, Secretary of the CPC Wenzhou University Committee, also attended the activity and sent his new year’s blessings for international students.

Mr. Xie had intimate conversations with international students, caring about their vacation life and safety. He asked students to keep healthy and take full use of vacation to broaden their major knowledge and learn more about Chinese culture, as well as improve their oral Chinese.

He also hoped that, with the help of teachers and staff of CIE and their own efforts, international student can not only integrated into the big family of Wenzhou University as soon as possible, but also be proud of being a member of Wenzhou University and thus became bridges and envoys of cultural exchange between China and their mother countries.

Lin Aiju, Secretary of the CPC CIE WZU Committee, and Fang Jianxiao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC CIE WZU Committee, visited ROMAN, a Russian student, knowing more about his recent language study. ROMAN said he was able to carry out basic conversations in Chinese after studying for a year. And he had planed to prepare for HSK4 in a study room which was offered by CIE specially for international students during this winter vacation. He hoped to get a good score in the future test. After the talk with ROMAN, Lin and Fang taught international students how to write the Chinese character “福”, hoping every international student could make their dreams come true in the coming new year.

This year, there are more than 200 international students staying on campus during the winter vacation. The University is very concerned about them, and CIE had offered Chinese language and Chinese national condition education courses for them through multiple channels. What’s more, CIE also joined hands with the University’s Logistics Office, the Security Office, the National Capital Office, the Student Affairs Office and the Research and Development Department to guarantee food, accommodation and study services.
