“Drug-Free Youth” Anti-Drugs Seminar and Safety Education for International Students


    To deepen the education and awareness of anti-drugs and further improve campus safety for international students, Overseas Students Education & Services held a seminar on anti-drug and safety education with the theme of “Drug-free Youth” on the afternoon of March 28. The seminar was hosted by Vice Dean Xiong Yong, and attended by Secretary of CPC CIE Committee Lin Aiju, international student counselors, international student specialists from relevant colleges and all international students.

    In order to enhance the professionalism of the training, the seminar specially invited the police of Ouhai District Public Security Branch Immigration Management Brigade, Investigation Brigade, Political Security Brigade, Anti-drug Brigade and Chashan Police Station. Officer Chen Haimin trained the students on anti-drug and safety. Officer Chen is responsible for promotion of laws on anti-drug, security, anti-fraud and exit and entry for international students, and has a deep understanding of the situation of international students. Officer Chen taught international students how to see through common types of drugs and how to refuse drugs by illustrating specific cases and the dangers of drugs. He clarified the strength and attitude of China in strictly punishing drug-related crimes, and warned international students to stay away from drugs, and improve their capacities to resist drugs consciously. At the same time, a detailed explanation was given for the recent cases of internet fraud and theft, and basic legal knowledge of exit and entry as well. Officer Dong Xuewei explained to the students China's laws and regulations of NGOs outside China. There was a well interaction between police and students. Students' questions on drug prevention and hotspots of anti-drug were all answered. International students said that this seminar  is vivid and practical, and that they should start from themselves to stay away from drugs, practice the concept of anti-drug, and build a better future.

  After the seminar, representatives of the international students followed the officers to the Chashan Police Station for a visit. This visit deepened students’ awareness of anti-fraud anti-drug, and the student representatives said they would help anti-drug work in their daily lives and remind other students to pay attention to Internet fraud and other behaviors at critical points in time.

    Overseas Students Education & Services has always attached great importance to the anti-drug, safety and stability work of international students. The series of anti-drug education activities also included an anti-drug poster exhibition, an anti-drug video show in the apartment, and the distribution of anti-drug brochures.
