On April 19, 2024, the 17th of “Dream of Zhejiang” Chinese talent exhibition for foreign students took place at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Jointly organized by the China Scholarship Council, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government Information Office, Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government Foreign Affairs Office, and Zhejiang Radio and Television Group, the event drew an assemblage of international students from 14 universities within the province and 2 universities beyond its borders. These students converged to present a captivating exhibition of Chinese talent centered on the theme “Poetry and Painting Jiangnan, Great Beauty of China”. Wang Shun, Vice President of WZU, Song Zhanmei, Dean of CIE, and Fang Jianxiao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC CIE committee, were among the esteemed guests invited to witness and participate in this momentous occasion.
Seventeen international students from Morocco, Nigeria, Ghana, Vietnam, Tajikistan and other countries made a stunning appearance with the opera skewer program “Gorgeous Pear Garden”. The program is composed of classic fragments from operas such as Heavenly Girl Scattering Flowers, Guillotine Case, Sending Phoenix Crown and Dream of Red Mansions. The gorgeous costumes and wonderful performances won rounds of applause from the leaders and the audience. “Chinese opera is really interesting. Through this exhibition, I am even more fascinated by Chinese culture. I hope to participate in more similar activities in the future and feel the charm of Chinese culture...”, an international student from Nigeria CHIMEZIE GIFT CHIDERA preached excitedly in an interview on the spot.
Wang, Song and Fang accompanied the participating students and leading teachers from the start to the end of the entire exhibition, cheered for them and took photos as a souvenir.
It is reported that the “Dream of Zhejiang” series of activities for foreign students in Zhejiang Province is an annual event for foreign students in Zhejiang Province, and it is also a major brand of Zhejiang’s foreign publicity activities.
