In order to further enhance the safety awareness of international students and create a safety campus, on the afternoon of November 13th, Wenzhou University hosted a safety warning education conference for its entire international students in the lecture hall of the North Campus' information building. Except all international students, attendees included leaders and staffs from the Eighth Squadron of the Fourth Brigade of Wenzhou Traffic Police, the Chashan Higher Education Park Police Station, the Security Department at Wenzhou University, Wenzhou University's College of International Education(CIE), as well as international student commissioners from various colleges, and head teachers. The conference was chaired by Ding Qiang, deputy secretary of the CPC CIE Committee.

At the beginning of the conference, Lin Aiju, secretary of the CPC CIE Committee, delivered a speech. She stressed that safety is the foundation of everything, and every international student should put safety first. Wenzhou University and its colleges attach great importance to safety work, and always make every effort to ensure the safety of international students and build a safe campus as their key tasks. Safety is not only responsible for oneself, but also for others. Secretary Lin called on all teachers and students to start from themselves, and from now on, strictly abide by the safety rules inside and outside the campus, such as traffic, fire protection, food, network, fraud prevention, etc., improve safety awareness and self-protection ability, and encourage everyone to actively report violations of safety rules, so as to jointly safeguard the safety of the campus and surrounding environment.

Next, Qiu Qiangnan, deputy squadron leader, launched an engaging and educational traffic safety campaign themed "The Most Expensive Minute." Through chilling traffic accident videos, attendees deeply appreciated the severe consequences of that "most expensive minute." He underscored traffic safety's importance using real-life examples and imparted traffic safety knowledge to international students, promoting safe and civilized travel, and embedding traffic safety consciousness into their minds and hearts.

Shi Tiejun, the police chief from the Chashan Higher Education Park Police Station, issued a safety warning using case studies. He analyzed various illegal scenarios, such as fighting, theft, trouble-making, foreign exchange fraud, drug abuse, and illegal detention, with real-life examples, familiarizing international students with common illegal activities and their grave repercussions. He reminded students to remain vigilant abroad, refraining from any illegal or disruptive conduct, adhering strictly to local laws, and defining their behavioral boundaries to ensure personal safety and a secure study abroad experience.

The conference also featured a demonstration on the proper use of safety helmets and a signature campaign for "Obeying Traffic Laws and Regulations, Traveling Safely in a Civilized Way." Leaders and guests demonstrated proper helmet wearing on-site, fostering good traffic rule-following habits and safety protection among international students through practical actions. Students solemnly signed banners pledging to abide by traffic laws and travel safely and civilized, reflecting their commitment to traffic safety and enthusiasm for campus safety initiatives.


Liu Tian, director of the Student Affairs Office at CIE, elaborated on school discipline and campus safety. By citing real cases like fires due to unauthorized electricity use and theft from unlocked doors and windows, he heightened international students' awareness of potential dangers and proposed practical preventive measures and coping strategies, such as proper electrical equipment use and the habit of double-checking door and window locks before leaving, ensuring comprehensive campus safety and enhancing students' self-prevention and emergency response capabilities.

Concluding the conference was a fire escape drill. Guided by school professionals, international students learned fire extinguisher usage and practiced swift, orderly evacuations in simulated fire scenarios. This hands-on experience bolstered their fire safety awareness and emergency self-rescue skills.



Safety forms the bedrock of school development, stability, and students' study and life fundamentals. This safety education conference aims to inspire international students to perpetually prioritize safety, adhere strictly to safety regulations, fulfill their safety responsibilities through actions, enhance their safety prevention capabilities, and enjoy a fulfilling studying in China experience.
