Our International Students Excel in Wenzhou's "Run Reader" Urban Orienteering Competition

On the morning of November 9, 2024, the 2024 Wenzhou "Run · Reader" urban orienteering competition kicked off with great enthusiasm at Sanyang Wetland Park. Forty international students from Bangladesh, Nepal, Egypt, Cameroon, Russia, Morocco, Vietnam, and other countries participated in this exciting event.

At 7:30 AM, guided by counselors, the international students arrived early at the north gate of Sanyang Wetland, marking the starting point of the competition. After signing in and receiving their materials, the students engaged in a pre-competition warm-up and attended the opening ceremony, where they were briefed on the orienteering competition rules and the tasks required at the major punch-in points. After approximately one and a half hours of intense competition, the team "Crazy Hunters" led by Luo Han from Bangladesh, emerged victorious, achieving excellent results and securing the top spot for our school's participating teams.

ROHAN commented, "It's a tremendous honor to win this competition. We all had a fantastic time and couldn't have succeeded without my incredible, amazing teammates. Everyone worked tirelessly and supported each other to achieve this outcome. I would also like to express my gratitude to our schools and event organizers for their encouragement, which kept us motivated throughout the competition. This victory belongs to all of us!"

Meanwhile, the Cameroon student FEUDIO, whose team although not victorious, remained excited about the event. FEUDIO noted that the competition's theme, "Run and Read", aimed to inspire everyone to adopt reading as a habit. "I share this perspective. Now that I'm studying at Wenzhou University, I realize the importance of reading more Chinese books to broaden my knowledge. Despite not winning, I thoroughly enjoyed running in the beautiful Sanyang Wetland on such a lovely day. I met many new friends and classmates from different countries, which I believe is also the significance of this activity."

The event was sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Wenzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. As a co-organizer, the School of International Education at Wenzhou University was responsible for the international track segment of the orienteering competition. A total of ten international teams, comprising 50 participants, took part in the competition, enriching the "Run Reader" urban orienteering competition with more international flair.
