Wenzhou University's 2nd Fishing Festival and Labor Education, alongside the 8th Teacher-Student Fun Sports Meetings of CIE, was successfully held on the afternoon of October 30, 2024. Catching Fish, Crossing Rivers, Pot-Throwing, and Sugar Battles....All these activities left international students shouting in amazement at the sheer thrill.
Mingxin Lake was filled with exhilaration and delight. Over 200 enthusiastic teachers and students from across the university participated, staging an intriguing "fishing" spectacle. International students from the College of International Education were particularly fervent, putting in concerted efforts and successfully catching numerous fish. "This is my first fishing activity. It's so much fun! In China, I've experienced a different campus life," exclaimed Raymond, an excited Zambian international student.
The fun sports meeting was equally thrilling. In the "Crossing River" event, international students carefully balanced their steps, striving to advance swiftly while maintaining their footing. Cheers erupted continuously at the scene. At the pot-throwing station, everyone focused intently, aiming at the pot's mouth and gently throwing their arrows. Each successful hit garnered a round of applause. The sugar battle saw contestants racing against time, skillfully picking up candy with chopsticks, creating a tense and exhilarating atmosphere. Additionally, there were team competitions such as Frisbee Battles, Tug-of-Wars, Heart-to-Heart relays, and the Pearl Walking Thousands of Miles. All participants enjoyed themselves a lot.
These activities not only enriched the extracurricular lives of international students but also fostered exchanges and integration among diverse cultures. Through laughter and joy, international students deeply experienced the unique charm of the fishing festival within Chinese traditional culture, while also feeling the power of teamwork and the thrill of competition during the fun sports meeting. With their broad smiles and enthusiastic participation, they infused this autumn day with boundless vitality.
