Wenzhou, March 19 – A vibrant cultural exchange unfolded at Huanglong No.1 Primary School as international students from Vietnam, Nepal, Iran, Nigeria and beyond shared their heritage with young learners in an event brimming with music, laughter and cross-cultural discovery.
The afternoon began with an energetic performance by the school's electronic music band, followed by a moving rendition of "Tomorrow Will Be Better" sung in Mandarin by Indonesian student Yiran Li and her peers. "The way different musical traditions came together was truly special," remarked one teacher as the audience erupted in applause.
In intimate classroom sessions, Zimbabwean student Chen Kai and Nigerian participant Zhan Xunmei captivated young minds with stories of their homelands. "Their eyes lit up when we showed pictures of African wildlife," said Xunmei, while Vietnamese student La Van Dat noted how impressed he was by the children's enthusiasm and the school's modern facilities.
The cultural immersion continued as students tried their hands at Chinese calligraphy and paper-cutting, with Nepalese student Sam creating bilingual artwork that became instant keepsakes. The football field then transformed into a global village as international students teamed up with local teachers for a friendly match, soon surrounded by pupils begging for autographs and selfies.
The day concluded with a delicious cultural lesson as children taught their new international friends to make mai bing, a traditional Wenzhou wheat cake. "Who knew learning could taste this good?" laughed one student through a mouthful of flaky pastry.
This grassroots exchange, part of our university's commitment to building global connections, proved that cultural understanding begins with simple human moments - a shared song, a football pass, or the perfect bite of a homemade snack.
