I’m searching for traces of my ancestors in Shangen, Wenzhou

Catarina is a Chinese-Portuguese student at Wenzhou University, and also a foreign anchor of Wenzhou Overseas Communication Center. She follows the old photos, filled with nostalgia, deep into the mountains to seek out the Wenzhou countryside that her father remembers.

In this video, Ms. Yu Jundei, the head of the project “Shangen Music & Art Village”, introduces that Shangen Village has preserved the original appearance of ancient dwellings to the greatest extent possible during the renovation, retaining 7 buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties, 4 buildings from the Republic of China, and more than 120 buildings from the 60s to the 80s. Shangen is called the "Museum of Living Architecture" as it has reserved the original flavour of Wenzhou's old-time style. At the same time, attracted by the melodious music, fascinating arts, delicious food and beautiful scenery, more and more young overseas Chinese choose to return back to their hometowns and start their own business here. What they are doing brings more energy to the Shangen Village, making it more beautiful.
