CIE Holds the Fourth Session of Chinese Skills Competition for International Students

On November 25th, the fourth session of Chinese skills competition has been held by the College of International Education, with international students from various countries showing their Chinese language ability by practicing calligraphy, dubbing, making a speech, singing and other language skills. Ye Miao, dean of CIE, Lin Aiju, secretary of CPC CIE committee, Fang Jianxiao, vice secretary of CPC CIE committee, as well as teacher Miao Weijia, Zhang Minlu, and Li Jing attended the competition as judges.

At the dusk, the forth session of Chinese skills competition started with a beautiful classic song-The Fishermen Sing in the Evening played by Zheng.

In the beginning, there was a funny dubbing competition. With fluent oral Chinese, Chenshi Yuying vividly imitated the interesting dialogue between the new mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in a TV series named The general (《将军在上》), which won loud applause from the teachers and classmates. Chen Mengyao and Lu Qiushi dubbed for an episode from Chief's man(《酋长的男人》) with sincere feelings. Ying Keda dubbed lively for an episode from Nezha(《哪吒》). The excellent dubbing made the audience forget that they were in the scene of a competition.

Together with dubbing competition, the calligraphy competition was going on in the other side of the competition hall.

Excluding the skills contest, there were many games prepared for everyone present, which created a happy and exciting atmosphere. Beside quick answer and guessing, drawing was the most popular game. There were paper slips with words like “舌尖上的成都”“舌尖上的深圳”“舌尖上的杭州”“为梦想创造可能”, then people who drew out whichever paper slip would get the corresponding gift. This game peaked people's curiosity about what gift can they get. And the last drawer won the ultimate prize of the contest—“Apple Pencil”(an apple & a pencil)!

After the game, people were seated again to listen to the foreign students Chinese language learning stories. Students Jin Weiwei, Chen Mengyao and Nawa touched everyone presented with their diligent learning experience told in fluent Chinese.

The competition came to a climax with the start of singing contest. The song Flying Red Flag(《红旗飘飘》), sung by Shenyang and Lv Ziqiao, showed international students love for China. I'm still the teenager you know in the past without any change, the song Teenager(《少年》) brought everyone back to their teenage years and reminding of their original aspirations. The last song How lucky (《多幸运》) was from Ying Keda. With true feeling and beautiful voice, he sang: How lucky to meet you in the most beautiful age, I have no regrets or remorse.

Shortly after the singing contest, the calligraphy work displaying has begun. Seeing international students neat and orderly, balanced and clean handwriting, judges can not help to say that sometimes international students handwriting looked better than themselves.

At the end of the competition, dean Ye Miao gave comments on the competition, and together with the vice secretary Fang Jianxiao gave awards to the winning international students.

A time will come to ride the wind and cleave the waves, I'll see my cloud-white sail and cross the sea which raves. After undergoing Covid-19, our brave international students will certainly have stronger determination to make further progress in Chinese language learning.
