On the afternoon of September 17, 2021, the Opening Ceremony for 2021 Fresh Master Students of TCSOL and the Supervisor Meet-and-Greet was held in the building of CIE, North Campus. Dean Ye Miao, Party Secretary Lin Aiju, Vice Party Secretary Fang Jianxiao, Head Teacher Tu Haiqiang, who is in charge of the TCSOL major, Supervisor Zheng Juanman, Teacher Xulili, and the whole freshmen class of 2021 attended the ceremony. Vice Dean Wu Zhi’ou chaired the ceremony. This year, we have enrolled twenty-three freshmen, including nineteen Chinese students and four overseas students with two of them attending the ceremony through Tencent Meeting.
On behalf of WZU, Vice Dean Wu Zhi’ou extended her warm welcome to all the freshmen. Then, everyone rose to sing the national anthem, and the ceremony began with this magnificent song.
After singing the anthem, Secretary Lin Aiju and Vice Secretary Fang Jianxiao,on behalf of CIE, handed out new books to all freshmen, in hopes that they would reflect carefully upon what they learn and make great progress while doing extensive reading.
In the Supervisor Meet-and-Greet, supervisors introduced their own research field, present studies and their hopes for the freshmen. The new students then introduced themselves one by one. Some introduced their hometown, some shared their stories with WZU, and others talked about their interested disciplines and their wishes for the future. The whole process went smoothly with an easy atmosphere.
Afterwards, Dean Ye gave the freshmen the First Class of the Dean. She introduced Wenzhou to them in a panoramic view, including its history, its culture, and its people. Wenzhou is a pioneer in private economic development, and the implementation of reform and opening up policy. It created a world-renown model of innovation and business start-ups. With nearly 700,000 people doing business in 131 countries and regions, and 2 million Wenzhou people running companies in China, Wenzhouese have become well known as shrewd business people. Dean Ye then introduced the professional development and characteristics of the school, and encouraged the students to cherish their time at Wenzhou University, to study diligently while getting out of the campus and getting to know the city, and to spend their time at Wenzhou University in a fulfilling and meaningful way.
