A Tour of the Wenzhou Culture Expo

In the theme of "Creation, Integration and development," Wenzhou International Fashion Culture Industry Expo of 2021 was held during April 29 to May 3 at Wenzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Twenty international students at WZU, from Ghana, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Malaysia respectively, visited the Expo and participated in cultural activities. They joined with traditional handicraftsmen to make delicate jewelry, whittle wood carvings with masters of arts and crafts, and taste of local snacks with local citizens. The international students were entrenched in the charm of Chinese culture and felt excited about the cultural differences between China and their own countries.

At the same time, the international students had a chance to experience products from cultural development of other cities in China. Exhibition halls in themes from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Chengdu and other cities had displayed achievements of cultural industry in the Yangtze River Delta, Central China and the economic zone on the west coast of the Taiwan Strait. Creative cultural products displayed in the halls were attractive leaving a deep impression on the international students. The practical functions of displayed digital products, including 5G, VR, robots, drones, smart wearable devices and home appliances, surprised the international students.

At the end of the trip, the international students said this expo offered them a multicultural, effective and international communicative platform, and enabled them to become cultural envoys for China and foreign countries. This trip not only enriched their campus lives but also broadened their vision, as well as their understanding of China and its culture. After experiencing the beauty of Chinese manufacturing and Chinese folklore, they are eager to learn the Chinese language well, and to improve their overall quality to help bring excellent Chinese traditional culture to the world.

Wenzhou International Fashion Culture Expo, which started in 2014, was held for the eighth time this year. This year the focus of the expo was on creative cultural products and innovation of the cultural industry. It gathered creative cultural products and cultural services aiming to become an important platform for the development of the provincial cultural industry of high quality, a summit for the fashion and cultural products industry, a feast for the culture and industry connection, and a significant center for cultural products display and trade.
