More than 1 month ago on October first one of our university employees received the opportunity to return to his home country USA to represent Wenzhou university in a series of meetings. His mission was to represent wenzhou university’s new aviation institute and college of international cooperation at three separate American university meetings.
Shortly after arriving in America Eli diaz visited his alma matter (means graduated university) Bridgewater state university as a representative of Wenzhou universities institutions. Bridgewater state university is a well known traditionally recognized teachers college located in the north eastern part of the USA in the state of Massachusetts. This school was founded in 1840 as a teachers school and has now become one of the best yet most affordable institutions in the region. Over the last decade this school has invested 100s of millions of dollars towards the development of its science technology and aviation programs. Eli diaz visited the campus to formulate cooperative agreements for the purpose of a mutually beneficial partnership between BSU and WZU. With the establishment of this agreement the outlook for further development of wenzhou universities programs looks promising. Both schools have agreed to exchange resources including students professors and even events space.
After successful representations, lectures and visits with in BSU, Eli Diaz traveled 600km south to the town of Dover in the state of Delaware. In this town there is a historical recognized university Called Delaware state. For Decades this university has been known to train some of the best fighter pilots in the history of the USA. This institution has received investments and facility upgrades from NASA, the DOD, and other government organizations for the purpose of research in science technology and aviation. After a tour of the school and visits to different offices Mr.Diaz along with a local professor of Chinese origin established initial agreements for the purpose of creating a joint program with Wenzhou’s very own aviation institute.
After Mr. Diaz’s visit to Delaware state university his next stop was to assist the dean of college of cooperation,Dean Yan, in his endeavor to negotiate and introduce WZU to representatives of the state university of west Michigan. West Michigan state university is located in the mid western region of the USA. This institution has one of the best recognized aviation facilities in the country, recently they have invested 19 million dollars towards the expansion of their new aviation maintenance and technology programs. The school has been known to have cooperative partnerships with other Chinese entities like the university of Guizhou. After an informative and rewarding meeting the dean Mr.diaz and the representatives of WMU decided to further pursue a partnership in the near future.
Upon arrival to China Mr.Diaz then assisted the co-director of the college of aviation in a meeting with the president of BSU at shanghai normal university. In this meeting Eli Diaz and his former mentor, now the president of BSU Fred Clark had the opportunity to share experiences from China. They also discussed details of BSU’s further involvement with WZU.
As the School year progresses more and more opportunities with newly made partnerships have continued to arise. The Future of wzu and newly formed Sino-American partnerships is promising.
