Readtimes:
On September 23,
the international students of Wenzhou University were treated to an opportunity to get help with their new life in China, and to offer advice on how their experience could be improved. On September 23
rd
at 7:00 p.m., the new foreign students department held its first meeting with the students, where they were asked for input about problems they were experiencing and activities they wished to take part in.
The meeting, which was presided by freshman Jingyi in English and freshman Chen Ziyu in Chinese, was called in order to inform the international students about the new department, explain its purpose and plans, and gather information. The purpose of the department is to help international students deal with problems they face in China, deal with issues related to their studies, and make them feel at home in China. At the meeting, the students filled out surveys about their wishes, problems and desired extracurricular activities, which the department will use to arrange events and improve its performance. The meeting also revealed that many international students would be willing to teach their mother tongue to Chinese students.
The meeting was organized by the head of the foreign students department, Hu Yuyu, vice head Wong Shupui, and members Shan Jingyi, Chen Ziyu, Li Wenjia and Guo Wenwen. “I believe this meeting was the beginning of what will be a lasting cultural exchange between China’s students and students from overseas,” said Shan Jingyi.
