WZU's 3rd Fishing Festival: A Celebration of Labor, Culture, and Teamwork

Sep 30, 2025

September 28, 2025——Under the theme "Reel You In," Wenzhou University(WZU) proudly hosted its 3rd Fishing Festival and Labor Education Practice by the picturesque Mingxin Lake on this afternoon. Over 30 international and Chinese students from our college enthusiastically signed up, with 10 selected as college representatives for this unique event.

Hands-On Learning: Embracing the Value of Labor

As a key component of WZU's labor education curriculum, the festival blended traditional fishing with practical learning. Teachers and students worked side by side, carrying out fishing tasks through teamwork. This hands-on approach allowed participants to experience the labor process firsthand and develop practical skills in a real-world setting.

Cultural Exchange: Weaving Global Understanding

The event provided a vibrant platform for cultural interaction. International students engaged in collaborative practice, gaining insight into China's traditional fishing culture. This exchange enriched the festival's meaning and fostered deeper mutual understanding among participants from diverse backgrounds.

United in Action: The Power of Teamwork

From casting nets to hauling them in, every step of the immersive fishing experience required close coordination. Beyond learning fishing techniques, the students strengthened their team spirit and honed their communication skills. Many reflected that the true success lay not only in the catch but in the camaraderie and默契 (mòqì, tacit understanding) built along the way.

A Bountiful Harvest: Celebrating Growth and Achievement

Since its launch, the WZU Fishing Festival has become a beloved campus tradition, combining education with enjoyment to promote student growth through experience.

Our college's team achieved a remarkable double victory, securing the "Best Fishing Team" award with a total catch of 18.8 kilograms and the "Biggest Catch" award for a single fish weighing 2.5 kilograms. Their outstanding performance truly embodied the growth and rewards gained through labor practice.

We eagerly anticipate the next Fishing Festival and invite everyone to join in this unique campus experience!
