Application Guidance of 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship——High Level Graduate Program

I.Scholarship Eligibility

1. Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health both mentally and physically.

2. Be a bachelor’s degree holder with an excellent academic performance under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs.

3. Be a master’s degree holder with an excellent academic performance under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

4. Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 and up when applying for Chinese-taught master’s or doctoral programs. Applicants who have previously earned a degree from a Chinese university where Chinese was the medium of instruction may submit a “Medium of Instruction Certificate” issued by that university, once approved by our university, the HSK score report could be waived.

5. Have acquired the English proficiency of TOEFL with a score of 80 and above or IELTS with a score of 6.0 and above when applying for English-taught master’s or doctoral programs. Applicants who have previously earned a degree from a university or institution where English was the medium of instruction may submit a “Medium of Instruction Certificate” issued by that university or institution, once approved by our university, the English proficiency test score report could be waived. Native English speakers or applicants from countries where English is an official language may also be exempted from submitting English proficiency test scores upon approval by our university.

6. Meet the admission requirements of the relevant school or college of our university in terms of academic ability and other relevant criteria.


II.Scholarship Instruction

1.Scholarship Coverage
Tuition, Accommodation, Living Expenses and Comprehensive Medical Insurance.

2.Duration of Funding

The subsidy period of professional study is consistent with the basic study years, which is 3 years for master students and 4 years for doctoral students.

3.Scholarship Standard

Free tuition

Free dormitory or accommodation subsidy

Living expenses: Master's degree: RMB 3,000 yuan/month; Doctoral degree: RMB 3,500 yuan/month;

Comprehensive medical insurance: 800 yuan/person/year


III.Application Materials

  1. Copy of Passport Home Page

    If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2026), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;

  2. Degree Certificates

    The originals of all degrees and academic certificates from undergraduate level onwards, and fresh graduates are required to provide a pre-graduation certificate (graduation date should be earlier than August 31, 2026) issued by their schools;

  3. Academic Transcripts

    (From the undergraduate program onwards) Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;

  4. Resume

    including continuous study and work experience since undergraduate studies. For students who have studied in China are required to transcript all study experience). Please download Attachment 1 to fill in;

  5. Personal Statement & Study Plan

    Personal statement and study plan, including academic background, study and work experience, professional achievements, research plan, development goals, etc., more than 1,000 words, can be written in Chinese or English;

  6. Language Proficiency

    a.Applicants applying for English-medium programs whose mother tongue is not English are required to provide the original TOEFL score of 550 or above, IELTS score of 5.5 or above, or proof that the undergraduate program is taught in English;

    b. Applicants applying for Chinese-medium programs are required to provide HSK certificates with HSK level 4 or above;

  7. Recommendation Letters

    Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English. The recommender must be an associate professor or above in the relevant field, please ask the recommender to sign and attach valid contact information;

  8. Non-criminal Report

    The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

  9. Foreigner Physical Examination Form

    The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months. (The original copy shall be kept by the applicant)

  10. Notes

    a. All certificates and attestations must be original or notarized in Chinese or English.

    b. Documents must be formatted as original color scans.

    c. Applicants should ensure that the information and materials provided are true and accurate. Falsehood and academic misconduct need to be eliminated, or else the enrollment will be disqualified.

  2. Application Procedure

    Step 1. The applicant organizes all the materials in order according to the list of required materials and sends the electronic version as a zip file to admission@wzu.edu.cn .

    Step 2. Overseas Students Education & Services conducts preliminary examination and determines the list of successful applicants for qualification review.

    Step 3. Overseas Students Education & Services  organizes an evaluation committee to review the materials, comprehensively examine the applicant’s academic performance, scientific research ability, development potential, etc., and give a review score for the evaluation of the materials.

    Step 4. Overseas Students Education & Services organizes a Defense Review and a comprehensive material review score to finalize the list of recommended candidates.

    Step 5. The university issues a pre-admission letter for the student to be recommended.

    Step 6. The students to be recommended log in the website of Chinese Government Scholarships, fill in the application form and submit relevant materials. Website: https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/, type: B, school code: 10351.

    Step 7. The State Administration Committee of Scholarship Council organizes evaluation experts to carry out qualification examination and determine the candidates for admission.

    Step 8. Based on the evaluation result of the State Scholarship Council, the university will notify the applicant of the acceptance status and produce the official acceptance letter and Visa Application for Study in China (Form JW201).
