CIE Hosts Practical Stress Management Workshop

Dec 5, 2025

To help students manage stress effectively, the College of International Education(CIE) invited Wang Mengjuan, a counselor from Wenzhou University’s Mental Health Center, to lead a workshop titled "Stress Coping and Management" on December 2.

The session opened with an interactive “stress mapping” exercise, where Wang identified common student pressures such as academic workload, unclear goals, and life balance. She noted that “unrealistic self-expectations are often a major source of stress,” which can lead to burnout if not addressed.

Wang shared several actionable strategies, including positive self-talk, gratitude journaling, and mindfulness practices like walking meditation. She also introduced productivity methods such as the Pomodoro Technique and the Eisenhower Matrix to help students prioritize tasks and reduce procrastination.

Quick relaxation techniques—such as physiological sighing—were demonstrated, along with a guided progressive muscle relaxation exercise toward the end of the workshop.

“Stress isn’t something to eliminate, but to understand and work with,” Wang emphasized.

Students responded positively to the hands-on approach, finding the tips practical and easy to apply in daily life. The workshop aimed not only to provide stress-relief tools but also to encourage a healthier, more balanced approach to academic and personal challenges.
