Dec 8, 2025

CIE held its first “Silk Road Student Talent Show” on December 5, bringing together international students from countries including Indonesia, Nepal, Nigeria, Thailand, Vietnam, and Turkmenistan for an evening of multicultural performances. The event, part of the university’s inaugural Silk Road Culture Festival, was attended by university and college leaders and international education specialists.

In his opening address, Vice President Wang Shun emphasized the university's commitment to global engagement and cross-cultural exchange. He described the talent show as both a performance platform and a space for mutual understanding among young people from different cultures.

Students showcased a range of acts, from traditional Indonesian dance and Nigerian poetry recitation to Chinese folk songs and Thai dance. A standout moment came when Indonesian student Li Yiran performed the Chinese ballad “Where Has the Time Gone?” to warm applause.

The show also featured a presentation by the captain of the university’s international dragon boat team, highlighting sport as a form of cross-cultural connection, and closed with a multilingual group recitation titled “Reading China.”

After the performances, awards were presented to winning acts by a panel of judges.

The talent show is part of broader efforts to promote international dialogue on campus and support the Belt and Road Initiative’s cultural exchange goals.
