In a move to bolster safety awareness and emergency preparedness among its international student body, the College of International Education(CIE) hosted a comprehensive safety education session on December 10. The program, organized in partnership with the University Security Department, combined critical theory with hands-on fire drill practice.
The session addressed essential regulations directly impacting student life. University officials clarified key Chinese laws, including public security administration regulations, alongside campus-specific policies on dormitory conduct and visa compliance. Presentations also covered urgent campus safety priorities: fire prevention, safe use of electric bicycles, anti-drug education, and telecom fraud prevention—using real cases to underscore the importance of legal and institutional compliance.

The training shifted from classroom to field with a live fire safety drill. After a demonstration on fire extinguisher types and the core “P.A.S.S.” technique (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep), students practiced extinguishing controlled fires, gaining confidence in handling emergency equipment. The drill concluded with an orderly evacuation exercise, familiarizing participants with emergency exits and assembly points.

The blended format of concise briefings and practical application received strong engagement from attendees. Many noted a clearer grasp of local laws and campus rules, along with valuable lifesaving skills that enhance their sense of security on campus.
The CIE reaffirms its commitment to student safety through ongoing, innovative training initiatives, ensuring a secure and supportive environment for its international community.
