To ensure a smooth transition into the new semester, the College of International Education(CIE) at Wenzhou University carried out a two-day outreach initiative from March 2 to 4. The effort brought together student affairs staff, academic advisors, and international liaisons from across the university to check in with students both in the classroom and in the dormitory.

In the Classroom: Checking in on Academic Life
Faculty members visited classrooms to observe attendance and classroom dynamics. They spoke with instructors about student engagement and spoke directly with students during breaks, asking about their new schedules and offering encouragement. Overall, attendance was strong and classes were lively—signs of a semester off to a solid start.

In the Dormitory: Listening and Responding
The team also conducted walk-throughs of international student dormitories, inspecting facilities and reminding students of safety precautions, including fire prevention and secure electricity use.
Beyond logistics, the visits offered a chance for real conversation. Staff asked students how they were settling in, whether they had any concerns about daily life, and what support they might need. Some issues were addressed immediately; others were documented for follow-up. The goal, according to the college, is to ensure a safe, supportive environment where students can focus on their studies.

A Warm Start to the Semester
The visits reflect the college's broader effort to stay connected with its international community. By meeting students where they learn and live, staff gained a clearer picture of their needs—and students received a welcome reminder that they are seen, heard, and supported.
