CIE Holds Spring Class Advisor Meeting for Safe, Orderly New Semester

Mar 9, 2026

The College of International Education (CIE) convened its spring semester class advisor work conference on March 4, 2026, to set priorities for international student education, management, and services in the coming term.

The meeting was attended by Lin Aiju, Secretary of the College's Party Committee, and chaired by Ding Qiang, Deputy Secretary. All class advisors and Student Affairs Office staff were present.

Safety Takes Center Stage

The session opened with training on safety management practices. Liu Tian, Director of the Student Affairs Office, outlined the semester's safety education plan for international students, covering eight key areas: property security, cyber fraud prevention, fire safety, traffic safety, drug education, campus religious affairs management, mental health, and disease prevention. Liu also distributed thematic materials for advisors to use in class meetings.

Deputy Secretary Ding shared insights on class development strategies in light of recent guidelines from higher authorities. He urged advisors to consistently reinforce safety awareness and discipline among students, clearly communicating behavioral expectations to help maintain campus security.

Advisors Share Practical Solutions

During the discussion session, class advisors exchanged experiences on common challenges in their daily work. Topics ranged from classroom attendance and event organization to promoting Chinese language learning and extracurricular activities. Practical concerns such as dormitory facility maintenance were also addressed. The sharing session yielded both time-tested "grassroots methods" and innovative approaches, building consensus for more targeted class management and student services going forward.

Four Tasks for the New Term

In her concluding remarks, Secretary Lin commended the college's achievements in student affairs over the past year and thanked advisors for their dedication. Emphasizing that student management is central to the college's mission, she stressed that safety and stability form the foundation for all development.

Lin called on advisors to pursue the overarching goals of creating a "safe, harmonious, standardized, and orderly" environment by focusing on four specific tasks this semester:

Hold a well-prepared class meeting addressing safety and campus regulations to strengthen preventive awareness

Conduct in-depth conversations with students, particularly those facing academic difficulties, to provide targeted support

Visit student dormitories to better understand students' living conditions and build trust

Organize a class activity to enhance cohesion and foster closer ties between teachers and students through shared experiences

"Class advisors are on the front lines of student services," Lin noted. She encouraged them to work closely with the student affairs team to implement these foundational tasks meticulously, thereby supporting the university's international education initiatives.
