The College of International Education held a fire safety training session for international students on April 1, 2026 (Tuesday) afternoon at Safety Education Base in Zone E, South Campus.
The event brought together dormitory floor monitors, off-campus students, and new arrivals for the spring semester. Guided by the Fire Safety Division of the University Security Department, the training marked the start of the college's spring safety education campaign.

Practical Skills, Real Confidence
Students learned how to use fire extinguishers and evacuate during emergencies. Instructors used real campus fire cases and focused on dormitory-specific risks, explaining prevention measures and initial response procedures.
Key techniques covered included the "Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep" method for extinguishers and low-posture evacuation.
During the hands-on session, students took turns putting out simulated fires.
"Practicing makes it stick and gives me real peace of mind,"
said Arena, an Italian student trying it for the first time.
Oda, a floor monitor from Zimbabwe, added:
"Safety has no borders. These skills protect you and help others in need."

More Than a Drill
For international students far from home, learning local safety procedures is essential. The session was both a skills workshop and a life safety lesson, reinforcing the university's care for its international community and strengthening students' sense of belonging and security.
Building a Safer Campus, Step by Step
The training is part of a broader spring safety series. The college will continue with topics such as fraud prevention, traffic and personal safety, mental health, and drug and religious safety.
Through ongoing, hands-on education, the college aims to build a full safety system that supports all international students throughout their time at Wenzhou University.
