WZU Workshop Helps Students De-Stress Through Movement

Jun 12, 2026

On June 10, Wenzhou University’s College of International Education held a wellness workshop titled "Making Friends with Your Body – A Journey of Mind-Body Discovery (No Dancing Skills Required)." Led by Ms. Yu Ruying, Director of the University Mental Health Education Center, the event drew both Chinese and international students.

The session emphasized free, non-judgmental movement. Warm-up games like "Catch the Frog" eased tension, while mirror exercises allowed participants to explore body awareness in a safe and supportive space. The goal was not to perform, but to release emotions and relieve stress through physical expression.

Students from different countries connected easily through movement. Anas, a student from Jordan, commented: "Just moving my body made me feel so much lighter." By the end, participants reported feeling more relaxed and grounded, having discovered that sometimes the simplest way to find peace is to let the body lead.
