The 2026 Wenzhou University "Digital-Intelligent Chinese" Summer Camp opened at the university’s North Campus on August 18th, welcoming Italian teachers and students for a Chinese language and culture program.
Xia Yuanzhi, dean of the College of International Education; Xiong Yong, deputy director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office; and Zheng Ting, vice dean of the college, attended the opening ceremony, along with Chinese and international teachers, student assistants and all campers. Zheng presided over the ceremony.
In his welcome speech, Xia welcomed the Italian delegation and introduced Wenzhou and Wenzhou University. He encouraged campers to make the most of the study tour, learn Chinese, join exchanges, experience China and share their experiences with family and friends.
Teacher representative Kan Wenwen said she would teach diligently and create a good environment for learning and exchange. Camper representative Provenzani Noemi, whose Chinese name is Nuomi, thanked Wenzhou University and the Prospero Moisè Loria Higher School for Linguistic Mediators for organizing the program. She said she would study Chinese hard, actively join cultural activities and learn more about Chinese culture.
After the ceremony, participants took a group photo and attended a class meeting on program arrangements and daily management.
The camp is facilitated by Wenzhou University’s Italian Branch and hosted by the College of International Education. It is part of language and cultural teaching exchanges between Wenzhou University and the Italian school. Through Chinese learning and cultural experiences, campers are expected to deepen their understanding of Chinese language, culture and society and strengthen friendship between Chinese and Italian youth.
